An account of your history is taken including a history of skin disorders, history of radiation to the face/skin and general medical condition along with current medication being taken.
The treatment area is cleaned and anaesthetised.
Once the area is numb, the growth is removed using a delicate stainless steel electrode of varying shape and size, depending on the growth to be excised.
The treated area is then cleaned gently.
A topical antibiotic is applied & the treated area is dressed.
The dressing is to be removed after 48 hours or as directed by the doctor. The prescribed ointment must be applied for the duration specified. You may be prescribed antibiotic medication if multiple lesions have been removed and infection is anticipated. A broad spectrum sunscreen must be used regularly.
Potential side effects include pain, bleeding, infection, post inflammatory hypo/hyper or depigmentation, scarring and keloid formation.
You use a pacemaker or have keloidal tendency. You are prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation, in such cases the procedure can be done only if certain protocols are followed.
